Today marked Stage 2 of the inaugural Nedbank Gravel Burn – the pure South African Gravel race that traverses the Western & Eastern Cape in 800km and 11.000m of climbing. The race attracts some of the world’s best bike riders including Olympic Champions, World Champions, and various National Champions. Stage 2 was another point-to-point race from Avontuur to Willowmore covering 108km and 1.150m of climbing. Today was fast, tactical, and wind-exposed and the riders crossed the Western to the Eastern Cape. Classic Karoo racing on hard-packed gravel where group dynamics decided outcomes.
