The GWA Wingfoil World Cup Gran Canaria, the final stop of the 2025 Surf-Freestyle season, is now officially underway at Playa El Burrero, where competition runs from August 5th to 8th. The opening day saw four rounds of the men’s competition and the first round of the women’s completed, with consistent 25-knot winds providing ideal conditions for high-level performances.
A field of 28 men and 14 women representing 12 nations is competing for the world title, as Gran Canaria hosts the GWA Wingfoil World Cup for the third consecutive year. Reigning two-time world champions and current overall leaders, Chris MacDonald (USA) and Nia Suardiaz (ESP), entered the event as frontrunners. Closely behind the leading duo are Benjamin Castenskiold (DEN) and Tomas Acherer (AUT) in the men’s, as well as Mar De Arce (ESP) and Manon Dupé (FRA) in the women’s overall rankings.
