The GWA Wingfoil World Cup Gran Canaria, the final stop of the 2025 Surf-Freestyle season, is now officially underway at Playa El Burrero, where competition runs from August 5th to 8th. After Denmark’s Benjamin Castenskiold claimed the men’s surf freestyle world title yesterday, day three saw the women’s final, where Germany’s Marie Schlittenbauer secured the world championship titel in the surf-freestyle discipline.
Germany’s Marie Schlittenbauer stormed to victory in the women’s surf-freestyle final, securing her first World Championship title in her debut season. She topped her semi-final ahead of Switzerland’s Zara Maillard, while Spain’s Mar de Arce impressed with a decisive Front Flip to win the other heat. In the title showdown, Schlittenbauer set the pace from the start and never looked back, holding off challenges from De Arce, Austria’s Viola Lippitsch, and Maillard. Despite a few late crashes, her lead remained unassailable. De Arce claimed silver, Lippitsch earned bronze, and Maillard finished fourth.
