Contrary to all the forecasts, the sun shone and the local Maloja breeze blew up to 15 knots to give the Ensis ENGADINWING WingFoil Racing World Cup an incident-filled final day of qualification races.

At stake in the Men’s competition was a place in the medal series.

For the event leader Mathis Ghio (FRA) keeping hold of his top spot would mean automatic qualification into the final. The day does not start well him, as he crashes into his brother Romain during the first race. Accepting fault for the incident, the World Cup defending champion retires from the race.

Mathis regains his composure to finish as the top rider and claim his place in the Grand Final. He faces his old rival Kamil Manowiecki of Poland, who overcame a virus earlier in the event to also qualify.
